Evesham is a Market Town that lies between Worcester, Cheltenham and Stratford upon Avon. The Vale of Evesham comprises of the plains of the River Avon from just south of Bidford on Avon to Pershore.
Historically Evesham is famous for the Battle of Evesham in 1265 which resulted in the defeat and death of Simon de Montfort. His grave is at Evesham Abbey.
The Vale of Evesham is renowned for market gardening, growing all types of fruit and vegetables, and in springtime, for growing asparagus or ‘Gras’ as it is known locally.
Architecturally, our Cotswold stone gives way to brick, and to half-timbered houses and black and white thatched cottages. The two main towns are Evesham, and Pershore. The area is scattered with picturesque villages including Cleeve Prior, Ullington, Honeybourne, The Littletons, Blackminster, Aldington, Harvington, The Lenches, Bishampton,The Graftons, Flyford Flavell, Lenchwick, Norton, Fladbury, Charlton, Cropthorne and Wick.

Bretforton
Bretforton is the largest farming village near Evesham just 4.5 miles away. Horticulture is thriving and the village is a delightful mix of red brick terraced farm workers cottages, black and white thatched cottages and larger manor houses and barn conversions.

Life is very much based around the Fleece Inn. Originally built as a longhouse in Chaucer’s time – internally little has changed and unusually the Inn is now owned by the National Trust. Today any significant entertainment such as Morris dancing or visiting music events take place in or around the Fleece.
Equally famous is the award winning Bretforton Silver Brass Band formed in 1895. Made up of 30 amateur musicians they regularly perform in the village.
Bretforton has a community shop, a village hall, British Legion branch, a Sports and Social Club and if cricket is your passion, a lovely cricket ground.
The village is blessed with two schools Bretforton Pre-School and Bretforton First School. The local Church of St.Leonard is at the centre of village life, a grade 1 listed building dating back to the 12th century.
Bretforton is also home to a large Jacobean Manor House which the owners share with the community featuring many events. It has some lovely gardens with oak trees over 300 years old.
